Douro Vinhateiro Half Marathon Regulations
1 - ORGANIZATION
The Douro Vinhateiro Half Marathon takes place in the Douro region and is organized by GlobalSport.
2 - RACES
There will be three races:

Half Marathon, 21.097 km, for participants born in 2007 or earlier.

Timed Mini Marathon, 5 km, for participants born up to 2009 (participants under 18 must register alongside an adult over 18).

Walk, 5 km, open to all age groups and non-competitive. Wearing the official event t-shirt is mandatory during the walk. Only properly registered participants may take part.
3 - DATE, LOCATION AND START TIME
The event takes place on May 25, 2025, at 09:00, starting at Barragem da Régua (Bagauste) and finishing in the city center of Régua.

4 - DURATION
The time limit is:

Half Marathon: 3 hours
-
Mini Marathon: 1 hour and 30 minutes
After the last support vehicle passes, participants continuing the course do so at their own risk and must comply with road traffic regulations.
5 - REGISTRATIONS
The user is fully responsible for the accuracy and authenticity of the information provided.
By registering, the participant agrees to the event regulations.

Only paid registrations are confirmed. Proof of registration is available in your registration account.
5.1 – Payment must be made within the indicated deadlines. If not, the registration will be canceled, and a new one must be created with updated prices.
5.1.1 – No refunds are made under any circumstances.
5.2 – If payment is made after the deadline, the registration will be canceled. You may request a refund within 30 days by emailing tickets@globalsport.pt – subject to a €10 service fee. Re-registration is possible with an additional €5 fee.
5.2.1 – Any data changes in the registration will incur a €5 fee and must be requested before March 26, 2025. Bib numbers cannot be transferred or sold. Offenders will be barred from future events.
5.3 – The organization reserves the right to assign VIP numbers to participants and guests. Every registered athlete will be able to request a VIP bib from the organization until May 1, 2025, proving that, in the last two years, they have completed a time of less than 1h09 in the men's race and 1h20 in the women's race in a half marathon (21k) and/or less than 33min and 37min in the distance (10k), in the men's and women's sectors, respectively.
The organization reserves the right to adjust registration deadlines or caps as needed without prior notice.
Participants' data may be shared with the event's insurance company and used for classification results publication.

7 - RACE KIT
Must be collected with proof of registration and photo ID.
In case of unavailability of the requested t-shirt size, an alternative will be offered.
Kits are distributed before and on race day.
Third parties may collect the kit with proof of registration.
All participants must write their full name, emergency contact, and relevant health information on the back of their bib.
8 - AGE GROUPS
For Half Marathon and Timed Mini Marathon:
Born in or before 2007.

Minimum of 3 same-gender participants required per age group.
Mini Marathon: no official rankings
9 - WATER STATIONS
Half Marathon: 5km, 10km, 15km, Finish
Mini Marathon: Mid-point and Finish
Subject to change depending on weather conditions.
10 - MEDICAL SUPPORT
Medical teams and ambulances will provide initial care. Further treatment will follow national health protocols.
A sports insurance policy covers all non-federated participants. Participants must notify the organization ASAP if admitted to a public health facility, or risk denial of insurance claims. Co-payments are the participant's responsibility.
Police, volunteers, and staff will be stationed for support and safety.
Unauthorized vehicles, animals, skates, scooters, or bicycles are prohibited on the course.
11 - SERVICES
11.1 – CLOAKROOM
Available at the start/finish for Half and Mini Marathon. Bib number required.
Valuables are not recommended – the organization is not responsible for lost items.
11.2 – SHOWERS
Available at a time/location to be announced on the official website.
12 - RANKINGS
Only for Half Marathon and Timed Mini Marathon.

13 - TIMING
Electronic timing with chip (embedded in the bib).
Must be worn visibly on the front.
Chips are personal and non-transferable.
Incorrect placement may result in disqualification or missing results.
Use of another athlete's chip will lead to disqualification.
14 - PRIZES
All Half and Mini Marathon finishers receive a medal.
Cash prizes (Half Marathon only) for:

Overall Men/Women

Veterans F/M 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 (with at least 10 finishers per gender in each category)
Trophies awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers in the Half and Mini Marathons.
Participants are only eligible for the highest prize between general classification and age group.
Prizes must be claimed within 30 days.
A form and invoice ("recibo verde" or equivalent) issued to GSX Portugal Lda – NIF 514779012 is required.
Prizes are subject to tax.
15 - JURY
Managed by the Regional Referee Council of the Vila Real Athletics Association.
16 - INFRACTIONS
Penalties apply for:

Skipping the start check
-
Not completing the full course
-
Not wearing bib visibly
-
Falsifying registration details
-
Running with another person's bib
-
Running on sidewalks
-
Intentionally obstructing others
17 - PROTESTS
Must be submitted in writing within 30 minutes of result publication, with a €100 deposit (refunded if upheld).
18 - ANTI-DOPING
Participants may be subjected to doping tests.
19 - REGULATIONS | PERSONAL DATA | LIABILITY
By registering, the participant agrees to the regulations, data protection, and waiver of liability.
Disclaimer:
"I am in good health to participate in Running Wonders. I exempt the organization and sponsors from liability in the event of injury or accident before, during, or after the event. I authorize use of my image for promotional purposes without compensation."
Participants are advised to undergo a medical check-up before the event. Participation is at one's own risk.
Data collected may be used for marketing and may be shared with third parties.

20 - EVENT CANCELLATION
The event may be cancelled due to external factors (natural disasters, strikes, demonstrations, traffic restrictions, legal changes, etc.).
The organization will issue an official statement within 30 days outlining measures to be taken.
21 - FINAL RULES
Omissions in these regulations will be resolved under the General Competition Rules of the Portuguese Athletics Federation.
